Happy Birthday Harry Potter! (and Ally!)

(The doodling represents how long it takes our computer to boot up and load the internet...the recipe from Madame Rosmerta on Mugglenet is 8oz of cream soda or club soda--we prefer the cream--1/2 c butterscotch ice cream topping melted for 90 sec. with 1/2 T butter, stirred for 30 sec. and poured into pop.)

That is right. Time for our annual Butterbeer toast to Harry Potter. This year we got to celebrate with the Metcalfes.

Some liked it (Ram), others...not so much (Avery). We're crazy(-eyed) about Harry Potter! Cheers!

Where to begin?

How about with this weekend?? And as you all know, over the next couple weeks I certainly intend to post about all the happeneings that we've missed in the summer...I'm too in love with this blog as our family history to let things go undocumented!

We are currently having an adventure at our house that leaves Ram feeling like this:
He had that pose right after we took this picture:

There are SIX girls at ou house right now, so Ram is uber-out-numbered. Avery and Emma Metcalfe are staying with us so their parents Dave and Kiersten can have an anniversary get away. Ram finds himself needing to hide much of the time and drink away his sorrows: It sure has been super fun though! We have played dress-up and danced, swam and sang, eaten and tried to sleep, walked to the park and has been fabulous.
And lest you forget, that really is 4 of them, plus 2 of us:

6 girls!!! We're the fun that never stops!

Pioneer Days

I love pioneer days in Monroe! And I loved eing on the committee to pull the whole thing off!! This year I was in charge of the concessions on the park and I rocked it! I of course planned on getting a picture of the whole thing to say, "I made this!" But it didn't happen :( But believe me, I rocked it! But we did get pictures of our cute pioneer children and their wagon for the kids parade!

And we got a picture of the epic city BBQ. This is where my event happened the next day.
And Eric,Summer and I played in the tennis tournament, which was so fun. Sum and I were doubles partners and we were pretty much horrible. But we had super fun!!
And I was also the announcer for the raffle prize drawings. Something else that I think I rocked. :)
I love this celebration and I hope one day in the distant future I can be on the committee again!!

My phone's popular

Twice. In one day.

Have you ever experienced that strange phenomenon when you pick up the phone to call someone and right as you pick it up someone else happened to be calling in at that same time, so instead of the dial tone that you expected to hear you instead hear a voice saying, "hello? hello?"?

Twice. In one day.

It can be certain that the 24th is this week without even having to look at a calendar and judging solely off the popularity of my phone.

The busy part of summer

We've reached our annual summer blogging hiatus...where there are so many wonderful things to blog about that it turns into a catch-22. So much to record, but then so much to do, then more to record and more to do. So until we reach a lull (hopefully in 11 days when the 24th celebration is history) we can do a catch-up. But until then, here are our children.

Four year old Brooke!

Viana was thrilled to be celebrating with her best friend.
So was Ram!
Brooke's birthday was on Wednesday, when we have summer movies, so we got to see Shrek 4 on the big screen. It was fun!
We had a fun little birthday party at home. Brooke wanted a Cinderella and Hermione this is what we came up with!
(You can see how much she enjoyed her cake...evidence all around her mouth!)
And then we headed out for fireworks! (One benefit of having a bday within 3 days of July 4th!)I think we had to convince Brooke to stay awake for it :) She's holding the "precious" stones firework.
Happy Birthday Brooke! You are a dear sweet girl who is so fun and we love you so much!

Colorado trip! July 1-5

We took a great break right in the middle of summer to good ol' Colorado. It was great timing too because Clayton Higginson was in Basic Cadet Training at the Air Force Academy. We went to noon meal formation to see him. He's somewhere down there! We went to the chapel where my parents were married. My dad got a good angle on a family picture.

It turned out lovely!

And I expertly carted my 4 babies up the hill back to the parking lot.
There's Clayton's pushpin at the visitors center! Way to represent Central Utah Clay!
We ran the Nielson Challenge on Saturday morning. I ran 2 miles in 20 minutes!
It was Eric's first race that he's run (minus his short stint in middle school cross country.)
We went to the Pioneer Museum in downtown.
And then we went up into the mountains for a picnic!
You can see that Ram did not like getting his feet wet in the cold mountain stream!! He's doing everything he can to keep me from dipping him in it!
We went to Helen Hunt falls for a little hiking. Carter girls!
We went to Great grandma and grandpas house! CharlyAnn with her namesakes!
We hiked the a highpoint in the neighborhood to watch all of the cities fireworks for the 4th of July.
It was such a WONDERFUL trip!!
